why the fuck do guys feel like… threatened at the mere mention of feminism, even first wave nineteenth century feminism?
there’s so many stupid people saying shit like “oh women didn’t want full citizenship so they wouldn’t get drafted under selective service in the nineteenth century” EVEN THOUGH THE SSS WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 1917, LIKE FIFTY YEARS AFTER THE WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE AMENDMENT WAS EVEN PROPOSED (that’s not to say that it wasn’t voted in favour, that didn’t happen til like 1919 or 1920, I can’t recall which)
so many guys are just overlooking such powerful female historical figures like elizabeth cady stanton, sojourner truth, dorothea dix, emma goldman, etc. because it’s like threatening their masculinity or some shit, and it’s really, really disappointing. i don’t know how to express how disappointing it is but god damn.
also lol, someone claimed john green incorrectly pronounced WEB Dubois’s last name even though he pronounced it correctly.
